The new Sprinter 4x4 remains in control during challenging mountain trips thanks to its selectable all-wheel drive. In normal operation, the van is driven via the rear wheels. When adverse road conditions occur, the two-wheel drive quickly turns into four-wheel drive - at the touch of a button. The drive power of the Sprinter 4x4 is then distributed between the front and rear axles at a ratio of 35 to 65. Instead of using mechanical differential locks, the van's all-wheel-drive works using the Electronic Traction System 4ETS. If one or more wheels lose traction on slippery surfaces, 4ETS automatically brakes the spinning wheels with short impulses, thus increasing the drive torque on the wheels with good traction.
